Peace! I am Sierra Leone’ Dillard, Certified Full Spectrum Doula, Childbirth Educator, Certified Lactation Counselor, Yoga Instructor, Reiki Practitioner, Student Herbalist, HynoDoula, & Black Mental Health Healing Support specialist serving the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN area. Mother to six (6) beautiful children. Each of their births were unique, timely but overall rewarding. Wife and best friend to Marcus. I decided to become a Doula because my heart always desired helping women as they go through their pregnancy, birthing process, postpartum and transitioning to a new beginning journey of milestones. My passion is to support women, children and families and how to keep them together in whatever way is healthiest for them.
Studies have shown that when Doula's attend births, labors are shorter with fewer complications. There is a less likelihood of needing forceps, vacuum, or cesarean (c-section) delivery. Mothers are less likely to need an epidural or any other types of anesthesia/analgesia (pain medicine) during labor. The connection with the birth family and child are positively impacted, and they are supported for the pregnancy all the way to special unique childbirth experience.
Doula Support:
I will provide evidence-based childbirth education for your entire family. As your Doula, my focus is on educating you about your childbirth rights, helping you focus on your childbirth experience, providing support, answering your questions, teaching you breathing techniques, suggest pain management techniques and comfort skills during and after childbirth. While most providers are obligated to move from one patient to another during childbirth, I will be there to support you from pregnancy to postpartum. As a Doula my focus is on you, the birth person, your precious baby and your family/support team, catering specifically to your needs. This is your baby's 1st BIRTHDAY let's celebrate bringing new life into the world.
Yoga/Prenatal Yoga:
Nourish your mind, body, and spirit with gentle stretches and calming techniques. Breath - Self-empowerment - Self-confidence - Positive Attitude - Mindfulness and Focus - Self-Calming Abilities - EmpathyBrain - Body Coordination and much more! Student Herbalist:
As a student herbalist, my passion for natural remedies and plant-based healing has opened up a whole new world of possibilities. From learning about the medicinal properties of herbs to understanding the ancient practices of herbalism, my journey as a student in this field has been both enlightening and rewarding. From soothing chamomile tea for relaxation to lemongrass for pain relief, the power of plants in promoting health and wellness is truly remarkable.
Reiki Practitioner:
Holistic healing! Reiki focuses on the body's energy flow to promote relaxation and natural healing. This approach considers the mind, body, and spirit as it is interconnected. Reiki is a gentle practice that involves light touch or holding hands close to the body. It can be comforting and non-invasive form of therapy for those seeking relaxation and stress relief.
